Computer To Plate :: RE: HIGH WATER MACHINES???????
===========================
I was trained on them, in USA, but never had the opportunity to touch one. I think it's a nice machine. Simple. Easy to work on. Highwater used to make interface cards for many devices (and they still do) To do that, they must have HAD one of every machine made. I THINK this gave them some insight in many types of imagesetter and platesetter, and when they made their own, they followed a "best of class" idea, and kept it simple. Violet laser, spinner motor, CanBus components. I liked it, but what happened was Screen, mainly, closed the bottom of the market and it screwed Highwater. So, you're left looking at a ... - Read More..

Mac OS X Forum :: RE: Having InDesign CS3 and CS2 on the same computer.
===========================
all i am say is is that the casual user - and i will suggest that perhaps, just maybe, that this means most designers who are just trying to get their work out the door - should be forewarned that running CS2 - and CS3 - or a mix of CS2 and CS2 apps, or (can't we ALEAST agree on this fine point?) that having Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 may (and often does) on the same computer can create some level of issues. my point is that when someone (like my sister in law) asks, "can I run both because <insert reasonable reason here>" - I would CAUTIOUSLY explain (polietly to) that since ADOBE themsel... - Read More..

Prepress Software :: RE: pdf to quark express poor quality
===========================
Best answer about Photoshop PDF files and type - DO NOT MAKE THEM! Unless file size was created at the dpi size you run at (minimum 600dpi) it will alot of times be fuzzy. Photoshop type is bad. And I bet when the PDF was made, it was compressed. Best case, open that PDF in Photoshop and see how bad the type looks there. If it looks bad there, it will not be any better anywhere else. - Read More..

Prepress Software :: RE: Native Files and automated workflow
===========================
If I get a PDF file, it is never right. Everyone wants to send them. I love it when I ask the "stupid" questions like - did you check your photos to make sure they will print fine. Answer - Thats how they came out of my digital camera. Question - When creating the panels for a roll folding brochure, did you make sure all the panels are the right size? Answer-Surethey are the right size, they are all the same. I could go on and on. - Read More..
